Looking for a Large Tract?

February 23rd, 2016 | Posted by Rich in All My Listings | Blog Post - (0 Comments)

Every now and then I am contacted by someone who is looking for a large tract with which to build their dream estate.    I have just reviewed a couple large tracts that have tremendous potential depending on the desires of the buyer.  Both are located in Pickens County close to Jasper.  One is approximately 200 acres with no improvements, but mostly in pasture, some wooded areas, and a nice lake.  This property also has wonderful long range views.  It would make a truly outstanding large scale horse farm. The other has more than 400 acres mostly wooded, some pasture, a lake, several outbuildings, 4 homes including a main lodge and could easily be set up to be off the grid.  With the security fencing that surrounds a major portion of the property, it would make an incredible family compound.

Now is a great time to buy land in north Georgia. The 10 to 20 acre tracts with pasture are still hard to find.   However, larger tracts are now coming on the market and the pricing has reached a point that is reflective of the market conditions.

10 Acre Bartow County property with barn, pasture, pond reduced to $184,900.  Property already has electric, water, and septic on site. Click here for details

Just listed this nice property in Cherokee County approximately one hour north of Atlanta.  If you’re looking for a affordable hobby horse farm in a peaceful country setting.  This might be the property for you. Click here for details.

Based on the current conditions at 8AM and the weather outlook according to the local TV channels,  We decided that the prudent thing to do is to change the GERL benefit concert to tomorrow, Sunday January 24th at 2PM.   I hope that you all can make it. I don’t think that we had much choice but to do this.

Juni Fisher Concert Status

January 22nd, 2016 | Posted by Rich in Blog Post - (0 Comments)

Here’s our current thinking as of 4PM Friday, January 22nd. The venue has been setup and everything is ready to go.  Juni will be staying in Chattanooga this evening and will drive to Dawsonville tomorrow in time for a sound check prior to her performance which is scheduled for 7PM.  Doors will open at 6:30PM. This all depends on the weather and, believe me, we have been watching the reports.  A final go/no go  decision on the concert will be made tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 8AM.  One option we’re considering is to postpone it to Sunday with doors opening at 2PM since it looks like it will be sunny with temperatures reaching the mid 40s on that day.  In addition to posting an announcement on this site I hope to send emails to all those who have bought tickets.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Janet and I are proud to sponsor a Juni Fisher concert with the net proceeds going to the Georgia Equine Rescue League.  GERL works with various civic and government agencies to ensure the protection of our equine friends.  If you’re a horse person in Georgia then you’re familiar with the good and important work done by GERL  Juni Fisher is an award winning, nationally recognized singer and story teller. The concert will be held on Saturday, January 23rd at the Bowen Center for the Arts in Dawsonville.  Click Here for details.  This concert is sold out!

Montana East Trail Challenge

December 15th, 2015 | Posted by Rich in All My Listings | Blog Post - (0 Comments)

My wife and I recently hosted a trail challenge event that’s  a little different from the usual obstacle course.  We set up a 2 mile course through our pasture and wooded area that included several creek crossings, a gate opening, 5 jumps, a dismount and mount on the offside,  2 grab a card stops, a steep hill/slide we like to call Snowy River, approximately 1/4 mile navigating through Talking Rock Creek, and a trailer loading as the final obstacle. The contestants are not rated on how skillfully they do the obstacles.  It is strictly on how fast they do the course.  The winning time was a fast 18 minutes and 15 seconds. When the contestants hit the bell at the finish line they were all out of breath, but had a big smile on their faces. It was a fun event with no injuries or unintentional dismounts.  We hope to do it again next year.

Western Dressage

November 5th, 2015 | Posted by Rich in All My Listings | Blog Post - (0 Comments)

Recently I participated in a Western Dressage clinic put on by our local club.  Cheryl Pritchard, Certified WDAA Trainer,  instructed us on this new and upcoming discipline in Georgia.  It was a lot of fun. My horse Magical Bee Tuff, aka Three Socks, did really well.  I think that he has a future in this sport.

I’ve had a couple closings in the last 30 days and am looking for new listings.  If you’re thinking of selling, please give me a call (770-289-7272).  I enjoy helping people buy and sell horse farms almost as much as I do spending time with my horses.  Almost, but not quite.:)

Open and Ready for Business

I just spent 10 days in north central Wyoming.  Got to see a polo match at the Big Horn Equestrian Center and visit several historical places in the area – western history being a passion of mine – including the Powder River Battlefield, Fort Phil Kearney and the Fetterman Battlefield, the TA Ranch, the Gatchell Museum, the Occidental Hotel and Saloon, and stood on the Bozeman Trail.   Rode almost every day in the Big Horns and saw some truly beautiful scenery.  If I didn’t live here in the North Georgia Mountains my second choice would be Buffalo, Wyoming.  It was a great time.  Now it’s time again for another passion of mine – helping people buy or sell horse properties in the Georgia mountains.   I have purchase contracts outstanding on properties in Murray and Dawson counties and current listings ranging from $199,000 for 10 acres with a barn to $1,050,000 for an incredible equestrian facility.  If you’re looking to buy or sell, give me a call at 770-289-7272.   I’d welcome the opportunity to assist you in achieving your horse property goals.

Recently listed this 10 acre property located just north of Cartersville in Bartow County.  It is ready for horses or other farm animals and has public water, electricity, and septic already on the property.
